Second half of the project: Hypnosis vs Faith

I'm researching how the second half of this project should develop. I strongly feel hypnosis is to be included, and that the lansdcapes will be contrasted by portraits, of people in an altered state. This 'state' is to reflect the religious context of the project, my interest in melancholy and the moments in which people become lost in thought. The point at which religion links in with hypnosis and trance states is in the controvercial process of anointment and laying on of hands, and this in turn refers back to my sceptism of religion and personal position. What is wrong with this image?

I shot this last week and have puzzled over why I don't think it works. I've come to the conclusion that insufficient care over small details has altered the impact of the image. I think that before taking the image I should have cleared the set of any rubbish and debris, and anything distracting like the plastic plant name tags should have been removed. From then its a case of retouching out parts of the photo to clear it up, not so its imaculate but so its minimal and balanced.

The land of giants

They were renervating the stadium close to the house. I couldn't believe it when I passed this scene, it looked like someone had shrunk the carpark as there were massive rolls of astro turf just piled up in the corner.
